Rajasthan or The Land of Kings is famous all over the world for its stunning forts and palaces that have been gloriously standing since decades in this princely state. These Magnificent Forts and Palaces have given Rajasthan a sensation among the travellers especially history lovers. They are the perfect example of the architectural heritage of Rajasthan. Almost every city of the spectacular desert land of Rajasthan is lined with mesmerizing forts and palaces built by various rulers. Enduring the ruthless desert winds and tormenting heat of the scorching sun, they have stood unshakable and have provided protection to the rulers in their time of conflict. Now, they have been opened to the tourists who come here to see a wonderful presentation of their rich heritage and splendid artistic architecture. Some of the royal residences have been now turned into heritage hotels, where the visitors can still experience the magic of India’s imperial past. Visiting the flawless forts and monuments of India is a very special experience where you get immersed in the intriguing history and stories related to these places.
DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN DELHI
Namaste! Welcome to the Capital of India. You will be welcomed by our representatives on arrival at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure to let you overcome jet lag. In the evening you may explore the colorful and lively markets of Delhi. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 02: DELHI SIGHTSEEING
Good Morning! After breakfast you will be going for a full day sightseeing tour of the capital city of India starting with old Delhi founded as Shahjahanabad. You will visit the majestic Red Fort, a marvel in red sandstone, Jama Masjid, the largest and most splendid mosque in India, both built by Emperor Shah Jahan, Rajghat- the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, where he was cremated. Post lunch the sightseeing tour continues to explore the best tourist attractions of New Delhi including a drive past through the Indian President’s House (Rashtrapati Bhawan) towards India gate built to honour and pay a tribute to the Indian soldiers, then visit Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar; built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek of the Slave Dynasty and the beautiful Lotus Temple. In the evening take a cycle rickshaw ride through the bustling and colourful bazaar of Chandani Chowk for shopping or to taste some tantalizing North Indian cuisines. Afterwards return to the hotel for a pleasant overnight stay.
DAY 03: DELHI TO AGRA (220 KMS)
After breakfast check out the hotel and proceed towards Agra. On the way to Agra stop over at Sikandra to see the Tomb of Mughal Emperor Akbar. It represents his philosophy and secular outlook, combining the best of Hindu and Muslim architecture in a superlative fusion. Once you reach Agra check in the hotel and leave for Agra Sightseeing with a visit to Agra Fort built in 1576 AD by great Mughal Emperor Akbar, structured and designed with red stoned barricaded; here you will find the splendid Pearl Mosque and various other classic example of art: Jahangir Mahal, Moti Masjid, Macchhi Bhawan, Nagina Masjid, Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, Diwan-e-Am, and Meena Bazaar. Emperor Shahjahan imprisoned by his rebellious son Aurangzeb in the Musamman Bhurj, would see his love reflecting through the Taj Mahal, where his dear wife was cremated. Later visit the Tomb of Itamad-ud-Daula, 35 kms from Agra, built by Empress Noorjahan daughter of Shahjahan, this monument a tribute to her great father. After sightseeing return to the hotel for a pleasant overnight stay.
DAY 04: AGRA TO JAIPUR VIA FATEHPUR SIKRI (243 KMS)
Today morning after breakfast check out the hotel and visit world’s most popular and beautiful monument: Taj Mahal, a Symbol Of eternal love And UNESCO World Heritage Site. Being one of the 7 wonders of the world, this historical masterpiece is an illustration of the fusion of diverse architectural styles. Later proceed towards the Pink City, Jaipur. Enroute Jaipur stop over at Fatehpur Sikri, the old deserted town of the Mughal kingdom, built in red sandstone in honour of Saint Salim Chisti who blessed birth of 3 sons to Emperor Akbar. Afterwards continue drive towards Jaipur. On arrival check in at the hotel and have a pleasant night stay at Hotel.
DAY 05: JAIPUR CITY TOUR
Today morning after breakfast explore the Pink City with an excursion to splendid Amber Fort, situated just outside the city, built in the 15th Century by Rajput King Man Singh. Visit Jal Mahal or water palace that is situated in the midst of the beautiful Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur City. Continue your sightseeing by visiting the regal City Palace – present residence of the royal family of Jaipur, the palace is a miraculous portrayal of the real Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Then visit the incredible Jantar Mantar which was innovated and constructed by Jaipur King Swai Jai Singh. Amongst the 5 observatories built by him, Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is one of them. Later visit the splendid Hawa Mahal, also known ‘Palace of Winds’ was built with a concept for the woman of royal families to speculate the royal ceremonies and festivals being hidden from the public eyes. After sightseeing have a pleasant night stay at your Hotel.
DAY 06: TRANSFER TO AJMER & PUSHKAR (140 KMS AND 16 KMS)
The tour starts early in the morning, when you will travel to the holy city of Ajmer from Jaipur. In Ajmer you will visit the shrine of Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chishti, which is a famous pilgrimage site of Muslims, but people from all communities are welcomed here. Then continue your journey towards Pushkar. On Arrival Check into the Hotel. Pushkar is famous for the world’s largest cattle fair every year in the month of November, with glorious celebration. Take a sightseeing tour of the city visiting temple of Lord Brahma surrounded by Pushkar Lake. Witness the devotees taking dip into the holy waters and offering prayers on the banks of the lake. Also visit the Pushkar Fair site, which is right opposite the Pushkar Lake. Evening is free for relax or take a walk through to see beautiful Pushkar Lake and colorful market of Pushkar. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 08: PUSHKAR- CHITTOURGARH- UDAIPUR (277 KMS)
Good Morning! Post breakfast leave towards Udaipur. Enroute visit Chittourgarh city, to witness mightiest and largest historical fort of India: Chittourgarh, this magnificent historical Fort gloriously stands as a reminder of the characteristic and bravery of Rajpoot Clan in Rajasthan. Spread over 700 acres, the fort houses historical monuments: Tower of Victory, Rani Padmini Palace, Man Mahal, Mira Temple and several ruins of temples of Shiva. Chittourgarh echoes with the tales of romance and velour unique to the Rajput tradition. A ruined citadel, where the royal past lives in its imposing forts, graceful palaces and spectacular ‘chhatris’ in the fort vicinity visit Kirti Stambha, Rana-Kumbha Palace, Padmini Palace, Meera Temple and Kumbha Shyam Temple and Kalika Mata Temple, State Archaeological Museum. Afterwards continue drive to Udaipur, on arrival check into the hotel. In the evening you may walk through the old narrow street of the city to watch local houses and people, Jag Mandir is a palace built on an island in the Lake Pichola, it is also called the “Lake Garden Palace”, enjoy boat ride at Lake Pichola. Afterwards return to the hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 09: UDAIPUR CITY TOUR
After breakfast, take a sightseeing tour of the lake city – Udaipur often referred to as the ‘Venice of the East’ by visiting the wondrous City Palace complex – a significant landmark of the town. The palace is a splendid white marble historical home of the Rajpoot Rulers. Here you will see notable places like the Durbar Hall, Palace Museum, Crystal Gallery and Jagdish temple, followed by Sahelion Ki Bari, a beautiful recreation garden for queens and princes of the rulers. Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal is an ethnic exhibit of traditions and culture of Rajasthan, ethnic ornaments traditional outfits, puppets, masks, dolls, classical paintings, fold musical instruments. In the evening visit to Lake Bageela 22 kms, for a sightseeing tour of the ancient Eklingji and Nagda Temples. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 10: UDAIPUR – RANAKPUR – JODHPUR (255 KMS)
After breakfast, check out the hotel and proceed towards Jodhpur, the Sun City. En route take a halt at Ranakpur to visit the ancient Jain Temples, built in the 12th Century – this group of temples is made of intricately sculpted white marble, with more than 100 beautifully carved distinctive pillars. Later continue your journey towards Jodhpur, on arrival transfer to the hotel. After refreshment if time permits take an excursion to Bishnoi Village 25 kms: 45 min one way. The villagers coming from the Bishnois caste are believed to be the guardians of animals. Bishnois are vegetarians and hence have great reverence for all living things. After visit drive back to Jodhpur you can explore the local market, visiting various authentic restaurants. Afterwards return to the hotel for overnight a pleasant stay.
DAY 11: JODHPUR – MANVAR (115 KMS)
After breakfast, take a sightseeing tour of the city visiting massive the Clock Tower, the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, magnificent Jaswant Thada (Mausoleums of the great Rajput King: Jaswant Singh), Umaid Bhawan Palace and museum – India’s one of most imposing and regal palaces, built by Maharaja Umaid Singh, designed by the famous architect Edwardian and Henry Vaughan Lanchester, who constructed this wonderful palace, a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. A part of the palace has been converted into a hotel, one part is the museum and the remaining part is still occupied by the royal family. Later check out the hotel and drive to Manvar, in Dechu. This place falls under Shergarh Region of Thar Desert and the highest sand dunes are found in this area. On arrival transfer to the resort. Early evening transfer on the camels for a desert safari till the Manvar Camp Site, reaching the campsite by sunset. In the evening, enjoy folk dance and music under the starlit sky while enjoying theme dinner. Overnight at the Desert Resort.
DAY 12: MANVAR – JAISALMER (170 KMS)
Early morning you may opt to take a jeep safari to explore nearby by desert village to see understand their life style, villagers craftsman, carpenters, metal smith potters, cobblers. After village safari return to the resort to check out and drive towards Jaisalmer. On arrival transfer to hotel. After refreshment you can visit to Amar Sagar and Mool Sagar Lake and temples of Ladawara. Also take a walk along the local market and do some shopping. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 13: JAISALMER TOUR
Today after breakfast take city tour of Jaisalmer city: visit most popular Golden Fort, also known as Sonar Kila and Jaisalmer Fort, the fort is built on the top of Trikuta hill, having 99 bastions, the most speculator feature is Megh Durbar, also many temples, near the fort there are marvelous havelies built by the wealthy traders of the past time, notably havelies are Nathmal ji Ki Havel, Patwon Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli, the splendid mansions with latticework and stone carving, a truly break tacking intricacy. Gadisar Lake, located in the main city, originally conceived as a water conservation tank to fulfil the water requirements of this acrid city, by the then maharaja of Jaisalmer, Maharwal Gadsi Singh, around the year 1400 AD. If time permits and you wish to cover more of places: Amar Sagar and Mool Sagar Lake and temples of Ladawara. Optionally you can stay overnight at the Sam Sand Dunes in the Swiss tents, the nearest place of the Great Thar Desert, Sam Sand dunes are seems to be golden stretched sands as a gateway to Thar Desert. Enjoy camel ride on the sand dunes during the splendid Sun Set, and dinner under the starry night with folk dances and music performed by local artists. Afterwards return to the hotel for overnight Stay.
DAY 14: JAISALMER – POKHRAN – BIKANER (330 KMS)
After breakfast check out the hotel and drive to Bikaner, en route take a halt at Pokhran: visit the massive Fort of Pokhran. The town of Pokhran came to the renown when India’s first nuclear test was conducted here in the 1970’s. Pokhran Fort was Built in 1532-1584 the yellow sandstone, though not as conspicuous as some of the others forts in Rajasthan, it has a few exquisite palaces like the Mangal Niwas, the Rani Mahal and the Phool Niwas or the Flower Palace; visit the Pokhran Museum, housed inside the fort’s premises is fairly small and contains an hodgepodge of weapons, pottery paintings, and the costumes which the Maharajas wore. Later continue drive to Bikaner, on arrival transfer to the hotel. Rest of the evening is free for leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Bikaner.
DAY 15: BIKANER – MANDAWA (190 KMS)
Today after breakfast takes the city tour of Bikaner visiting most popular and magnificent Junagarh Fort – built by Raja Rai Singh, this had never conquered during the entire history of Bikaner. The forts is having around 37 splendid palaces within the fort complex, there is wall of 7 kilometers around the fort and 37 bastions and 2 massive gates. Later check out the hotel and drive to Mandawa, enroute halt at to Deshnok, which worldly known for the Rat Temple, this temple is 600 years old, dedicated to Goddess Karni Mata, the temple is built by King of Bikaner Ganga Singh, the temple is decorated with cared silver gages and marble stone work. Later continue drive to medieval city Mandawa in Rajasthan, on arrival check in to a heritage hotel. Mandawa is also called the ‘open-air art gallery’ of Rajasthan. In the evening you can walk around the narrow lanes of the tradition town, watching locals and shops. Afterwards enjoy the traditional music and dance, live performance by the local artist, during the gala dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 16: MANDAWA – DELHI (230 KMS)
After breakfast explore Mandawa town, visiting notably known havelies: Binsidhar Chokhani, Newatia, and Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli. The Binsidhar Newatia Haveli, are famous for its inquisitive paintings. The Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli is known for its erotic paintings and images, now mostly defaced. These havelis are like museums, numerous havelis built by the wealthy merchants as in old days. Later check out the hotel and drive to Delhi, on arrival transfer to the airport to board the scheduled flight for onward journey, on departure the tour concludes with happy memories.
